Through Mirai Consult, Mirai Built and Mirai Geospatial, we combine strategic thinking with practical delivery capability. This allows us to understand the problem, bring together the right expertise and deliver solutions that create genuine value.

The Mirai Story

Different paths. Shared foundations.

Mirai founders Nick Haigh and Chris Barker first met while serving in the Royal Marines before following separate careers into the construction and built environment sectors.

Both progressed from practical delivery backgrounds into BIM, VDC, digital construction and technology leadership, approaching the industry from different directions but developing a remarkably similar view of how projects should be delivered.

Years later, their paths crossed again professionally.

They shared a belief that technology should support delivery rather than become the objective, that complicated problems often need practical solutions, and that strong relationships, accountability and high standards remain fundamental to successful projects.

That shared philosophy became the foundation for Mirai VDC.

Their Royal Marines background continues to influence the culture behind the business: integrity, discipline, accountability, teamwork, adaptability and an expectation of high standards.

Nick Haigh

Co-Founder | Digital Delivery & Project Leadership

Nick brings more than 18 years’ experience across engineering, construction, BIM, VDC and digital delivery, progressing from hands-on technical coordination to leading multidisciplinary teams across some of the UK’s most complex projects.

His career has spanned aviation, healthcare, defence, commercial and infrastructure projects, with particular expertise on major airport projects across Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester Airport, as well as major hospital projects across the UK.

Having worked from detailed MEP coordination and fabrication-level modelling through to programme-wide digital leadership, Nick understands both the technical detail and the wider project strategy.

At Mirai, his focus is on turning complex challenges into practical delivery solutions, connecting people, technology and information to improve projects today while creating better digital foundations for the assets of tomorrow.

Chris Barker

Chris Barker

Co-Founder | Digital Strategy & Project Leadership

Chris brings more than 20 years’ experience spanning construction delivery, project management, BIM, digital transformation, consultancy and business leadership.

Beginning his construction career in contracts and site management, Chris progressed into BIM and digital leadership with major contractors before establishing and leading specialist consultancies focused on improving the way projects are designed, constructed and managed.

His experience combines practical construction knowledge with technology strategy and innovation, supported by postgraduate study in BIM & Integrated Design and specialist programmes in artificial intelligence and machine learning.

At Mirai, Chris focuses on strategy, innovation and business development, connecting emerging technology with real project requirements to create practical, commercially valuable solutions.
